Ring of Honor Wrestler Jay Briscoe is no longer alive
Jay Briscoe, who was most known for being one half of the Briscoe Brothers tag team duo, has passed away. The wrestler was just 38.
He lost his life in a tragic car accident on Tuesday, January 17, in Laurel, Delaware at around 5:30 pm EST. According to a Delaware State Police statement, another side person was also found dead in the collision.
His death was confirmed by the wrestling organization’s CEO Tony Khan via Twitter. Khan wrote a heartfelt statement while gushing over the beloved Jay, referring to Jay by his birth name Jamin Pugh.
He tweeted,
“Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today.”

“Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.”
In 2002, Briscoe joined ROH in his teenage and later formed a tag team alongside his brother, Mark. He won altogether 13 Ring of Hoor stage team championships throughout his wrestling career along with Mark.
Similarly, Jay was a two-time ROH world champion as a single competitor.
Last year, the duo was inducted into the inaugural class of the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame. The 38-years old wrestler offered gratitude for the honor at the time stating that he and his brother were “humbled”.
He added,
“All we ever wanted was big time fights and we’ve been blessed to work for a company that provided us with that opportunity for 2 decades.”
A wrestling world is mourning over the loss of beloved Jay Briscoe
As soon as the death of Jay Briscoe was confirmed many stars from the wrestling community took to social media platforms to share their condolences.
WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes tweeted,
“I didn’t interact much with him, but upon meeting Jay I instantly understood something about him…his family was his everything. All the love in the world to them this evening.”
Adding to that another wrestling star Frankie Kazarian went on to say that he was “sick to my stomach” over the news of Jay’s sudden passing. He continued,
“I cannot even begin to process this right now. I loved everything about my friend Jay Briscoe. His passion. His drive. His presence. Our wars in the ring. Most importantly, how much he loved his family.”
Further, All Elite Wrestling’s Danhausen, WWE boss Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, SmackDown star Sami Zayn, WWE tag team champions The Usos, and others were among those who have paid tribute to Briscoe.
