Drena De Niro pays tribute to her son Leandro

Drena De Niro is still mourning the loss of her beloved son Leandro. The actress paid an emotional tribute to her late son on what would have been his 20th birthday.

The daughter of legendary actor Robert De Niro shared a carousel of throwback pics on social media on Friday with a caption,

“You would have been 20 yrs old today Thank you for the happiest and most profound 2 decades of my life, little angel. I hope you are at peace and your spirit is filled with joy today and always ♥️ 8~11~03 – 7~2~23,”

Her followers offered their sympathy to the late boy with one writing,

”my condolences to you Mom & family..I can imagine this is really, really hard, and I Pray he is at peace also…✝”

Another wrote,

”hoping the family gets the strength to cope with the loss.”

The tribute showed snaps of her son as a baby, a video of him dancing, and one of the late teen alongside his grandad.

The heartbreaking birthday tribute comes just days after it was made public that her son passed away from a toxic combination of illicit drugs.

The NYC Medical Examiner told Page Six on Tuesday that Leandro’s death was ruled an accident after it was found that he had a mix of fentanyl, alprazolam, bromazepam, 7-amino clonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine in his system.

Cops arrested Sophia Marks, the woman who reportedly sold drugs to the now deceased the deadly medications on July 13 after obtaining texts between her and the A Star is Born actor about the pills.

The woman, 20, claimed she had warned Leandro against taking the fentanyl-laced pills she sold him. Moreover, she also sold drugs to kids as young as 15.

How did Drena De Niro announce her son’s death?

Drena announced the death of her son on July 2. He was her only child whom she shared with Carlos Rodriguez.

She wrote on Instagram at the time,

“You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life,”
“I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you.”

The Joy star, 51, also added that she wished her love could have saved her baby.

She added,

“I’m so sorry my baby,”
“Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”

Robert, 79, also paid a touching tribute to his grandson, saying,

“Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”
“We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.”

Leandro’s family buried him on July 8.
