The De Niro family has lost a beloved family member

Robert De Niro‘s grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez is no longer alive among us. Mom Drena De Niro confirmed her son’s death on Sunday, July 2, sharing a photo of Leandro with a heartbreaking statement.

She wrote,

“My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life . I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you . I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.”

“You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you. I’m so sorry my baby.”

The cause of his death is yet to be disclosed.

Leandro is the only child of actress Dreana and artist Carlos Mare.

Carlos, for his part, shared a blacked-out photo on his respective Instagram page after Leandro passed away. However, he hasn’t publicly spoken about his son’s passing.

The sad news comes just a month after De Niro welcomed his seventh child. In May, the 79-year-old actor is blessed with a baby girl with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen.

While Drena is the oldest of De Niro’s seven children. He adopted Drean during his first marriage to the actor Diahnne Abbott.

The former couple also shares a son named Raphael, who has two children.

Similarly, he has twin sons, Julian and Aaron, from his relationship with model Toukie Smith. He then got second married to Grace Hightower with whom he shares a son Elliot and a daughter Helen.

Besides being a celebrity child, Leandro had established his career. He followed his grandfather’s footsteps to become an actor.

He was a rising young actor who rose to prominence for his appearance alongside his mother in the movie, A Star Is Born. He starred as George “Noodles” Stone, the son of Dave Chappelle.

Further, he appeared in 2005’s The Collection and 2018’s Cabaret Maxime.
