Who is Rvssian?

Rvssian is a famous Jamaican singer, recorded producer, and entrepreneur. Rvssian founded Head Concussion Records, a music production company located in Kingston, Jamaica.

He is well known for working with popular artists like Vybz Kartel, Bad Bunny, Demarco, Shaggy, Juice World, Chris Brown, Cardi B, and Carlos Santana.

He rose to fame after bringing Vybz Kartel’s “Life Sweet” in 2010.

His father Michael ‘Mircron’ Johnston is the founder of Micron Music Limited there is no information about his mother and siblings. Later, he went to Ardenne High School and later joined the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.

Rvssian made his debut rhythm “Liberty Riddim”, featuring Konshens’, “Ago Kill Me” and Vybz Kartel’s “Nah Hold We Down”.

After two years, he produced “Life Sweet” for Vybz Kartel. To pursue his music career furthermore, he left the Edna Manley College for Visual and Performing Arts.

Initially, Rvssian was named RUSSIAN. While people searched for Russian it showed results linking to Russia (the country) and its citizens (Russians) and got difficult to locate Tarik “Russian” Johnston, the music producer.

After this, the spelling of the names was altered by substituting “U” with “V”. And it was named “Rvssian”.

With Vybz Kartel, he made solo “Straight Jeans and Fitted” which gained more than 25 million viewers on YouTube and won “Favorite Music Collaboration” in the Youth View Awards, 2011.

They performed as a duo on”Get Gyal Anywhere”, “Look Pon We”, “New Jordans” and “Cure Fi Badmind”. They released a series of solos by Vybz Kartel which includes “Ever Blessed”, “Kremlin”, “Mamacita”, and “Hi” after the imprisonment of Kartel.

Rvssian released some songs, working with renowned dancehall acts like Tarrus Riley, Blak Ryno, and Demarco. Another hit single of Kartel’s “Life Sweet”, was released by him with tracks of rhythms like “Go-Go Club”, “Nuh Fear”, and “Remedy”. Similarly, he released other hit singles of Tarrus Riley including “Gone Bad, Good Girl” featuring Konshesn,  and Vybz Kartel as lyricists. He started to appear as a singer after collaborating with Vybz Kartel on different hit solos like “Cure Fi Badmind”, “Look Pon We”, “Yellow Yellow”, “New Jordans”, and “Straight Jeans and Fitted”.

After the imprisonment of Vybz Kartel, Rvssian, launched J Capri, a new female dancehall artiste.
