Sally Field, 70 had walked the red carpet in June 2017 at the Tony Awards function at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. She was nominated for her first Tony Award for the Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her performance in the Broadway favorite ‘The Glass Menagerie’.

She was her best in her navy blue-colored gown with glistening midnight blue floral embroidery and sprays of matching fringe and tassel-lined train.

Sally had adorned a set of diamond earrings and a single sapphire ring on her finger. Her makeup was simple and neutral-toned and had made a gorgeous updo of her hair. She showed off her well-defined shoulders in her off-the-shoulder feather gown.

People could not but admire them. When asked as to what was the secret of such marvelous maintenance of her shoulders and body, Sally Field revealed that she does regular hiking, biking, stretching, and posture routines.

She likes indoor cycle classes and also does weight training to strengthen her bones. Doing shoulder shrugs 10-12 at a time for 2-3 times a day will tone up the neck and shoulder muscles.

Standing and with a straight back, hold a dumbbell or water bottle in each hand with arms at the side. Raise shoulders upwards towards the ears (shrug them).

Hold momentarily and release. Repeat 10-12 times. Though Sally Field did not win the Tony Award, she did give a speech in honor of American Theatre Wing, the organization behind the Tony Awards.

On the next day of the Tony Awards night, Sally Field tweeted her photo and pointed to the ‘Planned Parenthood’ pin on her gorgeous gown.

She had captioned it with the following:

“Sick of hearing actors talk re politics? 2 bad I won’t stay silent while politicians attack our rights. Proud to #StandwithPP #TonyAwards.”

Cecile Richards President of Planned Parenthood thanked Sally Field for her advocacy of the association. Sally Field rallies for ‘Vital Voices’, an organization that is in partnership with emerging women leaders of 144 countries and provides support to them at a political, entrepreneurial, and human rights level.

In 2014, The actress had told Guardian:

“The political sphere – this is my real passion because for my children, my grandchildren, I see the whole world in such terrible shape and it hurts me and all of us. It takes enormous effort and time and passion and heart to participate in such a way that you take ownership of this planet. At her 2007 post-Emmy award acceptance speech, Sally Field had said at the end:

Sally Field and her fight against osteoporosis

Besides, supporting various philanthropic activities, Sally Field has also been assisting various organizations and firms in making people aware of this silent disease called ‘osteoporosis’.

Field was diagnosed to be suffering from osteoporosis (bone-thinning) before she was 60 years old. This disease weakens the bone and makes the patient prone to fractures.

The actress was taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after her menopause and hence her bone density seemed normal at that time.

But the time, she stopped HRT her bone showed evidence of thinning and it was picked up on her bone densitometry scans.

She started taking the anti-osteoporosis treatment and is stable at present. However, she has put in her efforts to make aging people aware of this problem and how to prevent and overcome it.
