In May 2014, she posted some photographs on her Twitter account in which she strolled topless on New York streets. It was her way of protesting against Instagram which banned her account. The social media site had deleted her account after posting two pictures that contained partial nudity. In one of the photos, she was wearing a sheer top whereas the second picture had two of her closest friends topless.

In response to Instagram’s action, she walked topless and posted it on Twitter. In the caption, she asked Instagram how what she did was legal in New York state law but not allowed on Instagram. Her protest increased her popularity on Instagram after she made another account. Willis wanted to empower women to know that how they look or dress should be based on their personal choice and not the judgment of society.
