Selena Gomez does not care if her body is big

The Calm Down singer shut down trollers who criticized her body on social media after attending the 2023 Golden Globes in a strapless Valentino gown.

She was nominated for her performance in Only Murders in the Building. Gomez’s date for the night was her 9-year-old sister Gracie Elliott Teefey. The sisters posed for the camera flashing their bright beautiful smiles.

This is not the first time Sel has brought her cute sister to such events. In 2019, the duo rocked the red carpet of Disney’s Frozen 2 premiere where they shared a cute kiss.

After attending the award show, there were a huge number of trollers who criticized Sel’s body and called her names.

Gomez, for her part, took to her social media where she came live and slammed the haters. She said,

“I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays,”

The actress turned to her baby sister, Gracie in the background and said, “Right?”

Gomez then added “But we don’t care,” as the sisters burst into laughter.

On January 11, the Naturally singer graced the Golden Globes 2023 red carpet wearing a black velvet Valentino Haute Couture gown, that consisted of voluminous purple sleeves and a plunging off-the-shoulder neckline.

The designer dress which had a high slit fit perfectly into the singer’s body. She accessorized her look with De Beers diamond drop earrings. For her hair, Selena chose to do it in a high ponytail.

Selena shared a tumultuous relationship with the media for years

This is not the first time, Selena, 30, has slammed her trollers for making fun of her appearance many times in the past.

In April 2022, the Love You Like a Love Song singer publicly clapped back at trollers who would shame her body saying that she would never miss out on her favorite foods for a skinny body because “people bitch about [her weight] anyway.”

She said at the time,

“Bitch, I am perfect the way I am,”

Moreover, the former Disney star also has been open about her strained relationship with social media over the years.

She even deleted all the apps from her phone for a really long time because of the negative comments she received. They left her depressed and anxious.

But now, Gomez is back on social media and regularly updates fans about her day-to-day life.

She captioned one of her recent posts,

“Wait can you tell I’m back on Instagram?”

Right after that, Sel posted lovely snaps with her new BFF Nicola Peltz with whom she even got matching tattoos, and her husband Brooklyn Beckham.

The new BFFs jetted off to Mexico to celebrate the new year.
