Later, Serena Guthrie began playing for Giants Netball in 2017 in the Australian Suncorp Super Netball league and was appointed the captain for the series against Uganda in November 2018.

But, she left the Super Netball league at the end of the 2018 season and returned to her old club Team Bath in the United Kingdom in 2019.
