Shaquil Barrett is grieving the death of his 2-year-old daughter

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Linebacker Shaquil Barrett is inconsolable over the passing of one of his kids.

His 2-years old daughter Arrayah Barrett, whom he shared with his wife and high school sweetheart Jordanna, passed away around 9:30 a.m. local time on Sunday morning, May 1.

According to a statement from Tampa Police Department, Arrayah died after drowning in a pool at her home in the Beach Park neighborhood in south Tampa.

Authorities received a call just before 9:30 a.m. reporting that a child had fallen into a pool. Following that, Arrayah was taken to a nearby hospital where, in spite of efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead.

The police said,

“It is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident,”

Nevertheless, they stated that the investigation is still ongoing.

Arrayah was the youngest of four children. On April 19, she celebrated her second birthday, and Shaquil wished her with a sweet Instagram post.

Barret shared a series of photos of Arrayah with a caption,

“Happy 2nd bday to my cutie girl. So sweet and cute. You made our family complete. I love you baby girl,”

The athlete, 30, and his wife shared other three children Shaquil Jr, Braylon, and Aaliyah.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offered heartfelt condolences to Shaquil Barrett and his family

As soon as Arrayah’s death was confirmed many outpoured tributes and condolences for Shaquil and his entire family.

The Buccaneers also took to the social media platform to share the tragic and devasting news alongside a heartbreaking statement. The statement reads,

“Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaquil, Jordanna, and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time,”
“While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah,”

Besides, NFL commentator and former quarterback Robert Griffin III also expressed his grief, writing,

“Please send a prayer up for Shaquil Barrett and his family after the tragic drowning of his 2-year-old daughter, Arrayah, in the family pool this morning. Unimaginable tragedy,”

The two-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes added,

“Prayers to the entire Barrett family,”
