Shepherd Smith started his career with local TV in Florida. He was placed in Miami and Orlando. Shepherd started working for Fox News in 1996 and has been part of a lot of shows on the channel. He has reported on several important and breaking news such as the death of Lady Diana, the impeachment of Bill Clinton, the death of Michael Jackson, Hurricane Katrina, etc.
Shepherd’s show, The Fox Report with Shepard Smith was in the top three in 2003. He hosted Shepherd Smith’s reporting show. On 11 October 2019, he announced that him leaving Fox News. He was upset with the lies spread intentionally on the channel’s shows.
Shepherd joined CNBC in July 2020. He was doing The News with Shepard Smith. But this show was canceled in November 2022 and led to the exit of Shepherd from CNBC.

Shepherd had married his classmate at the University of Mississippi, Virginia Donald in 1987. But after six years of togetherness, the two split in 1993. They had no children together.
