Singer Eddie Money dies at age 70 following complications of stage four esophageal cancer!

Eddie Money was a famous singer who sang the hit Take Me Home Tonight. He died at age 70 following complications of stage four esophageal cancer.

Singer Eddie Money’s family revealed to the People magazine that Eddie is no more. He passed away peacefully on 13 September 2019. The family told People:

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father.

“We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

Eddie had a loving wife Laurie and five children. His kids are daughter Jesse Money and sons named Zachary, Joseph, Desmond, and Julian.

Doctors treating Eddie diagnosed esophageal cancer in Eddie last year. It was less than a month ago that Eddie, whose real name is Edward Joseph Mahoney, revealed to his listeners that he is suffering from esophageal cancer.

This is the first time that he has made his, diagnosis and health news public. This is, announcement Eddie had made on his reality TV show Real Money season 2. He had disclosed:

“I thought I was just going in to get a checkup and [the doctor] told me that I got cancer.”

He further revealed:

“We found out that I had cancer and that it was stage 4 and that it was in my liver and my lymph nodes and a little bit in my stomach, it hit me really, really hard.”

Eddie Money and his other health ailments

Eddie had other health issues as well. He had heart valve disease and earlier this year, he was, forced to cancel his tour dates since he had to undergo a heart valve surgery.

The surgery went well but during the post-op period, he developed pneumonia. This surgery was after his performance at a concert at the DTE Energy Music Theater on 25 May 2019. That happened to be his last show as well.

Before the surgery, there was a statement uploaded on his website which read:

“Legendary rocker Eddie Money (70) announced today that he is having a heart valve procedure.

“His doctors recommended the minimally invasive procedure after Money began to experience shortness of breath.

“The doctors preferred the surgery be completed last week, however, Money, ever the consummate showman, did not want to disappoint his fans by not performing his two scheduled Memorial Day Weekend shows.

“The procedure is scheduled for this week while Money has a break in his concert dates.”

Eddie Money and his life

Eddie was born in the city of New York and grew up on Long Island. He started his career as a police officer. After two years of this stint, his music career took off and he did not look back. His hits in the late 1970s included Baby Hold On and Two Tickets to Paradise.

He also had a few, appearances on the television. In 2002, he played himself in the drama The King of Queens. He had his reality television series since April 2018 on AXS TV.
