His uncle Aref told The Sun that Mrs. Neda, who suffers from a muscle disease, collapsed due to the smoke entering their home. He said,

Shekeb needed to get her out quickly. He took her arms, put them around his neck and carried her over his back down all 24 floors.”

Fahim Muzhary, whose son is a friend of Shekeb, said,

“He is a hero. In the chaos, all the screaming and shouting, he picked up his mother and carried her down from the very top floor. He sprinted with her down the stairs the whole way. I just don’t know how he did it. He must have summoned the strength somehow in the moment.

With all the smoke and the flames it really is unbelievable.”

The condition of Neda and His Mother

Flora was still in a coma in the hospital till Thursday night, and Neda was in the hospital too. Neda’s friends said that he was awake and “getting better“.

Missing Father

However, Mohammed ‘Saber’ Neda, the father of the family remained in the flat and is still missing. Last heard from at 2.20 am when he made a frantic phone call to a relative to say that the building was burning and that there was “no help“, the 57-year-old Saber has been out of contact since then.

A cousin of Shekeb Neda said to the tabloid,

“Shekeb is the most loving and caring man, a strong young boy who loves his family more than anything. He did what any son would do and he got his mother to safety. We do not know where Saber is. We hope he is alive.”
