Anton Ilichev was working as the suite manager and he was with the Celebrity Millennium for many years and has been on several contracts with them. When the suicide took place, he was on board the cruise which was on its 14-night Southeast Asia tour from Hong Kong to Singapore. It has also been revealed that his current contract was going to be complete and he was due to disembark in Singapore and start his holidays.

Condolences to Anton Ilichev’s family

Crew Center expressed its condolences to the family of Anton Ilichev as well as his friends and fellow crew members with whom he worked for so many years.

It has also been reported that Anton was a popular crew member and was liked by all. His friends and colleagues also expressed their sadness at his demise on Facebook.

The crew members also expressed their concern about the lack of mental health support and counseling facilities for the employees who work on cruise ships that sail on the deep and high seas for many weeks and months. They commented:

“There is no mental support whatsoever in such a difficult environment! Don’t you dare ask the doctor for a day off for simply being mentally exhausted, they’ll tell you that you are free to sign off. Crew members should have the chance for therapy/counceling onboard and should be encouraged to attend! But crew members sadly will always, always be just numbers. Condolences to his family.”
