Tig Notaro is an American stand-up comedian, writer, radio contributor, and actress. She is famous as a comedian and is widely known for appearing in TV productions of Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notar (2015), Netflix documentary Tig  (2015), and HBO comedy special Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted (2015).

Tig is also famous for her 2011 debut album Good One. She was nominated for a Grammy in 2014 for her comedy album Tig Notaro LIVE.

Tig was born on 24 March 1971, in Jackson, Mississippi, USA. Her birth name is Mathilde Notaro. She is the daughteof r Mathilde Cusack and Lauric Cusack.

She was raised in Pass Christian, Mississippi, until kindergarten. Her family later moved to Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston.

Tig Notaro has an older brother named Renaud Notaro, who is a year older than she and is a radio talk show host. She was diagnosed with cancer in both breasts on July 30, 2012. Notaro later had a double mastectomy with no reconstructive surgery.

Notaro opted out of chemo but decided to continue treatment with hormone-blocking. After a show in Philadelphia, Notaro was hospitalized and required surgery for a cyst. As of June 2016, she is cancer-free.

After moving to Denver, Colorado, she became involved in the music industry. She became a band manager under the name Tignation Promotions. Her work promoting bands took her to Los Angeles, where she tried stand-up comedy for the first time.

She has since been featured on Comedy Central Presents and The Sarah Silverman Program as a lesbian police officer. She collaborates frequently with writing partner Kyle Dunnigan.

With Dunnigan and David Huntsberger, and co-hosted the podcast Professor Blastoff until July 2015. During the 1990s, she founded and ran Tignation Promotions, a talent booking and management company in Denver, Colorado.

In 2011, Tig Notaro released her debut stand-up album, Good One. In 2012, Notaro appeared on the Conan television show. She is writing a memoir for HarperCollins imprint Ecco. She was nominated for a Grammy (2014) for her comedy album Tig Notaro LIVE. Tig has a net worth of $5 million.
