Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane feels that success of the team needs now to be measured by the silver trophy!
- It had been more than a decade and the football team Tottenham Hotspur has got no trophy in this English game.
- Under the boss Mauricio Pochettino, the team has made a great change and has emerged as a strong team, but the trophy is still elusive for them.
- But the team Captain Harry Kane has made winning the silverware his priority this season.
Harry Kane and his priority this season
The captain of Tottenham Hotspur, Harry Kane has done a lot of work on his team. He is aware that there has been great improvement in the team’s performance.
But he knows that success now needs to be measured in terms of a trophy. Hence, Harry has made winning their priority this season.
Harry had tweeted:
“Looking forward to this #COYS https://t.co/lL2MIH1CgI”
Their boss Mauricio also wants the team to lift some trophies this season and wants them to work hard towards this goal. The same thoughts and sentiments run through Harry’s mind.
He told PA:
“The most important thing is to try and win a trophy. We spoke about it a lot, we know how difficult it is.
“But I think we’ve proved in the last five years that we have a good enough squad. We just need to get the job done out on the pitch. We’ll do everything we can to win something and I think it would give everyone at the club a big boost.
“Year-by-year we have progressed, but we still haven’t really got anything to show for it.
“I think we’ve earned the respect of teams and fans around Europe, but we haven’t had that success of winning a trophy. The players and the manager want to do that. We’ve been a success as how we’ve progressed as a club but we’re at the stage now where trophies and titles are the most important thing.”
About Tottenham Hotspur
Last season, Tottenham reached the finals of the Champions League but failed to grab the trophy. Even on the local and domestic grounds, they somehow were unable to reach the top. Something fell short and they missed the silverware.
At this season’s opening, Tottenham had a moderate start to the Premier League campaign. They defeated Aston Villa 3-1.
Their match with the reigning champions Manchester City ended in a draw of 2-2. But they were defeated in the game with Newcastle United 1-0. Newcastle United is not among the top teams. Hence it came as a shock when this struggling team managed to defeat Tottenham.
Tottenham will have to work hard to get the top spot. This summer, there have been some transfers but no new faces on the team. However, the team has some contract issues with its key players.
These need to be sorted out if it wants to see some trophy in their hands. Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen, and Toby Alderweireld have been experiencing some problems with the team bosses as regards their contracts. If this is settled early, improvement in team play is expected.
