What really happened to Kiely Rodni?
A California teen named Kiely Rodni, 16, who had been missing for two weeks was later pronounced dead. Her death was ruled to have been an accident.
According to autopsy results released on Thursday, the body which was found in a car submerged in a reservoir demise due to drowning.
Similarly, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Officer said that the 16-year-old teen died by drowning, which was confirmed by a pathologist, and there was no evidence of foul play.
The sheriff’s office said in a statement,
“This ruling is based on the pathologist’s finding that her death was the result of drowning and that there was no other information to suggest she was the victim of foul play,”
The statement also stated that they were still cooperating with Rodni’s family and were reviewing any new information regarding this investigation.
Brief on the case of Kiely Rodni
Kiely Rodni was last seen around 12:30 a.m. local time on August 6 near the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, California, about 20 miles north of Lake Tahoe.
She disappeared along with her car, a silver 2013 Honda CRV, while she was at a party with more than 300 attendees. Since she vanished, her cellphone has also stopped working.
After a two-week search, a body was discovered in a vehicle pulled from the Prosser Reservoir on Aug. 21. Similarly, two days later, after an autopsy, the body was identified as Rodni. Also, the car matched the description of her SUV.
Rodni’s family showed gratitude toward people
The teen’s family expressed their “eternal gratitude” for the support they received from friends, family, law enforcement, the media, and communities around the world during their search for Rodni.
The family released a statement saying,
“We have weathered a storm of unfathomable force, and it is purely thanks to the army of warriors, matriarchs, healers and helpers holding us up that we continue to stand today,”
“Mr. Rogers famously told a story of ‘looking for the helpers’ whenever he saw scary things in the news. We have not had to look for the helpers, as you have all come to our rescue in full force. We are forever indebted to you.”
