Happy Married Life! Ty Herndon and Alex Schwartz took a milestone step in their relationship. The gay couple tied the knot on Saturday, August 26, after almost twelve months of dating.

Ty took to Instagram to announce the happy news sharing glimpses from their wedding with a caption,

“Alex and I made it official here in Tennessee last night, Thanks to family and friends for making it unbelievably special!”

Besides, the newlywed shared more details about the wedding and reception with PEOPLE.

The wedding ceremony took place in an outdoor ceremony on an Owen farm in Chapmansboro, Tennessee. The spot holds some special significance to Herndon as it is close to the residence of country musician Don Williams.

His father is an avid fan of the late icon, and the Owens was able to reserve his tour bus to transport the wedding party. He said of the wedding venue,

“We knew we wanted something that captured our personalities and we fell in love with this place as soon as we saw it. We used the wedding scene in the movie of The Proposal as a bit of a reference,”

They exchanged vows in front of more than 300 people, including Kristin Chenoweth and her fiance Josh Bryant, Sally Struthers, and more.

Similarly, their wedding was officiated by Melissa Greene, a former member of the contemporary Christian band Avalon.

Former Avalon member Michael Passons, Herndon’s manager and former GLAAD VP Zeke Stokes, and Herndon’s longtime producer and guitarist Erik Halbig served as groomsmen in the ceremony.

The couple cut a three-tiered cake, made of blueberry lemon and almond buttercream. Additionally, a chocolate station and an ice cream bar.

Ty Herndon paid tribute to his late father at the wedding

On his special day, Ty honored his late father, who died many years ago, on his special day, by placing a picture of him on a table next to one of Schwartz’s little brothers, who is also deceased.

A unity candle was then lit at that table by the mothers of both men in order to symbolize the joining of families. The singer clarified,

“It created a very special moment to help us remember those who couldn’t be with us to celebrate this day,”

This is the second marriage of Ty Herndon

Ty has already married once. He was previously married from 1993 to 2002. However, the identity of his first partner is kept under wrap.

In 2014, he came out as gay. After that, he began dating Matt Collum, with whom he remained till 2021. About a year later he met Schwartz, with whom he instantly connected.

They were first introduced by a mutual friend at a dinner party. Similarly, the two dated for around six months before getting engaged in February.
