The engagement

DWTS stars Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy have been dating on and off since 2015. They made their relationship known and official when they shared a passionate kiss during the season 25 finale.

Jenna shared pictures of the engagement in Venice, Italy. Val proposed to her and Jenna tweeted the picture and wrote:

“#ENGAGED @iamValC.”

Val was seen bent on one knee and holding the engagement ring to a surprised Jenna. Jenna shared another image of her kissing him. She said:

“Yes”

Val also captioned a photo and captioned it:

“I can’t wait to make you my wife ♥????.”

Val told PEOPLE that Jenna has changed his life completely. He said:

“My life has changed because of [her,]” Chmerkovskiy told PEOPLE of his new fiancée. “And I find myself to be the best version of myself that I’ve ever been. She’s awesome.”

In May 2018, a fan account of Jenna shared a picture of Jenna wearing a red costume. The account tweeted:

“Jenna Johnson though.”

To this, Val had responded:

“I should def put a ring on it,”

The same day Jenna had spoken about her relationship with Val. She had said:

“Time’s a-ticking! We’ll see [if engagement is in the cards anytime soon]. We both have very big things happening right now, so we’ll let that ride over… maybe we’ll go to Fiji!”

Update: Married

Dancing With the Stars couple has tied the knot! The couple got married on 14th April 2019 at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Only their friends and family were present for their wedding ceremony. Val explained,

“”We want to keep a small guest list, but at the same time, it’s a beautiful thing that we’ve built real sincere genuine relationships. And the number grows, but it doesn’t from like a shallow standpoint of having everybody there that we know. It’s growing because we realize, ‘Wow! There’s a lot of people that mean a lot to us in our life.'””

Val and his feelings for Jenna

In March, Val had talked about his feelings for Jenna. His love for her is so immense and a bit possessive that he does get a bit envious when she is on the dance floor with other males. But he controls those feelings since he knows that it is for her good and career.

Val said:

“The type of person I am, I mean, I’m fairly jealous. I mean, look, I have all these emotions, you know.”

He continued:

“I’m not perfect. But I have to check myself and be fair and say, like … how can I hold this against her if I’m in the same situation? And I would never want to compromise my artistry, you know, because I wouldn’t want to make my significant other feel uncomfortable.”

And added:

“This is part of the new chapter in my life. It takes some sacrifice to have a healthy relationship. And, you know, you gotta be willing to make those sacrifices and I’m definitely willing to make certain sacrifices to make it work.”

Val said that he decided to go public with his private life since he realized that people and Hollywood are obsessed with romances and love stories, especially celebrities.

He said:

“I’ll be honest, I’m just tired of fighting this because I realize that people and Hollywood are obsessed with romance and love stories. I feel like it’s private. it should remain private but at the same time I understand I can’t be a hypocrite. I’m on Instagram kind of sharing our vacations and my love for her constantly.”

Val is already an uncle to his brother Maksim’s kid and does like to father one himself. But he said:

“I think she would love to be a mother. But she also has so many incredible things going on in her life and I would feel very selfish to interrupt them for nine months. But definitely soon, hopefully.”
