Valerie Bertinelli talks about falling in love again

Valerie Bertinelli is getting candid about her new love life.

The actress gushed that she is in love with her new boyfriend and revealed that they first met on social media.

The One Day at a Time star told People in a new interview that she got to know her new beau on Instagram a few years ago.

She told the outlet,

“It was strictly platonic but there was something about him that I connected with that felt familiar,”

Valerie explained that their friendship only developed romantically after they started talking on the phone earlier this year. She gushed,

“It’s crazy the comfort level,”

The actress didn’t reveal his name but hinted that he’s a writer based on the East Coast.

The Enough Already author added,

“I’m in love. It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again,”

She later added that her new romance ”feels incredibly right.”

Valerie joked that after her troublesome divorce from Tom Vitale, she was “supposed to die with my six cats and my dog and very happily live the rest of my years alone.”

She added, “My belly is flip-flopping. This was not supposed to happen,”

Bertinelli further explained that it took her very long to heal from her divorce and the death of her first husband, Eddie Van Halen.

Why did Bertinelli and Vitale divorce?

She said, “I found joy first, and then a man entered my life,”

The actress who had a son Wolfgang, 33, with her late husband — revealed last month that she had started seeing a “special” man.

She told USA Today at the time,

“I’ve met someone. And I’m incredibly grateful for him,”
“It’s unlike any relationship that I’ve ever experienced with a man.”

The author also gushed about feeling “incredibly blessed and lucky to have met” the mystery man when love was “not on my radar.”

She said,

“This would not have happened three years ago, four years ago, last year — it wouldn’t have. And I feel incredibly lucky to have met him and made a connection with him,”

The actress has been pretty vocal about her divorce ever since she filed for separation from Vitale in November 2021. Their marriage lasted for 10 years.

The now exes finalized their divorce in November 2022 in a settlement where Valerie had to pay her ex $2.2 million.

Shortly after that, she called her ex a narcissist who called her fat and lazy.
