Wayne Brady opens up about his sexuality, comes out as Pansexual

Wayne Brady is now identified as a Pansexual

Wayne Brady has publically come out as pansexual. The 51-year-old television personality opened up about his sexuality in a recent interview with PEOPLE.

He told the outlet,

“So, I came to pansexual because — and I know that I’m completely messing up the dictionary meaning — but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary. Being able to be attracted across the board,”

He has been struggling to find his identity throughout his life.

Brady talked about how he went through multiple therapy sessions to discover who he is and how greatly affected he was by the untimely death of Robin Williams in 2014.

He shared,

“I did all the therapy I could do. I was treated for love addiction. It’s a part of my journey. I had to start examining why I was looking for myself and happiness in a slew of people,”
“And so, in doing that work, I now know absolutely that love addiction is born of trauma. I can’t feel any shame around that, just like I wouldn’t shame somebody if they said they were addicted to meth or cocaine. That’s a sickness.”

Wayne Brady shared how tough it was for him to accept his identity

Wayne Brady initially wondered if he is gay because he has felt an attraction to guys.

Although he does not identify as gay, the comedian admitted he has never acted on those feelings due to “how I was raised,” as well as societal pressures and stigmas placed on him as a child.

Despite having LGBTQ+ friends and family members, he concealed his sexuality for years. He felt ashamed that he couldn’t be honest about how he felt, and that would affect his mental health.

The television personality shared he dealt with the internal battle before coming out. He recalled,

“So, what does it mean if I feel something? I don’t think I’m gay, but what if I feel something for another [man]… That’s still gay. I was already bullied about a bunch of other s**t. I didn’t wanna add a top hat on top of that suit.”

Nevertheless, the ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ host has now finally opened up and vows to live his life to the fullest and become the finest version of himself.

Is Wayne Brady dating anyone at present?

Wayne Brady is not currently dating anyone. He told the outlet,

“I am single, but it’s not about being with someone right now. I’ve got some work to do still. Then, Wayne as a single, open-minded pansexual can make a decision and be free and open to other people.”

Brady was joined for the interview by his ex-wife Mandie Taketa and his daughter Maile Brady, who recently turned 20, who both expressed their love and support for him.

They were the ones to whom the TV host initially came out. He reflected on how his daughter and ex-wife show him acceptance.

He said Madie remarked it was “great,” since she knew coming out would make him happier while Maile shrugged and replied, “Okay,” while smiling broadly.
