Steph Curry, 34, is now graduated!

The Four-time NBA champion just attend the commencement ceremony on Wednesday evening, August 31, where he was honored with his diploma.

Curry proudly walked across the stage at Davidson College to collect his shiny new diploma, the special one-man ceremony to mark the momentous occasion. In May, the player received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology but couldn’t attend the official ceremony due to the NBA playoffs.

He received such a special accomplishment a whole 13 years after he left school in 2009. The star attended the school from 2006 to 2009, however, he left to pursue a career on the basketball court.

He dropped out while he needed one semester to complete his undergraduate degree. Curry said,

“I get kind of awkward at times when I walk into this gym and see this many people showing up just for me and the celebration of what, you know, the graduation and the Hall of Fame induction and seeing my jersey in the rafters,”

Similarly, he posted a video of his May’s initial graduation ceremony and tweeted,

“Class of 2010….aka 2022 but we got it done. Thanks to my whole village that helped me get across the finish line. Made the promise when I left and had to see it through. Official @davidsoncollege alum. Momma we made it! #greatdaytobeawildcat.”

Retiring his No. 30 Jersey

Nevertheless, the university also honored his athletic achievements by retiring his No. 30 jersey during Wednesday’s ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by thousands of students and fans, as well as Curry’s family. In an achievement of Stephen, his parents also honored him with speeches.

His proud dad Dell Curry said,

“This is awesome, man. This is good stuff here. Coach, this might be the best day ever to be a Wildcat!”

Further, Davidson president Doug Hicks said,

“To earn this degree, you showed determination and perseverance,”

Curry has won the NBA title four times, named NBA Most Valuable Player twice, and is an eight-time All-Star throughout his career to date.

The player is also the first Davidson athlete in any sport to have his jersey number retired. Also, the school created a rule that athletes must have a degree for a jersey to be retired.
