Paul Krugman’s Young Days

Paul, whose full name is Paul Robin Krugman was born on February 28, 1953, in Albany, New York, U.S. He is the son of David and Anita Krugman and they were Jews by religion. He was raised in Nassau County. In 1922, Paul’s parental grandparents immigrated to the US.

Paul Krugman’s Education

Paul graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore. He has revealed that his interest in economics began with Isaac Asimov’s Foundation novels.

Krugman got his BA in economics from Yale University in 1974. He wanted to further his study so he went on to pursue a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Within 3 years, in 1997 he had a doctorate in hand.

Paul Krugman: Professionally active

Paul is still very much active careerwise- he has at least three jobs. He is a professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton University, a Centenary Professor at the London School of Economics, and an op-ed columnist for The New York Times for which he is best known.

He was an economics professor at MIT and later at Princeton until his retirement from Princeton in June 2015, after 15 years of teaching. Paul holds the title of professor emeritus there. Also, at the London School of Economics, he is titled Centenary Professor.

Paul has also been a columnist for the past 20 years as well. He writes for an online magazine, Slate. He was also a writer for Fortune, The New Republic Foreign Policy, Newsweek, and The New York Times Magazine, before joining The New York Times.

Awards

Likewise, Paul was awarded the European Pulitzer Prize, and the Asturias Award given by the King of Spain. Also for his work, he received the John Bates Clark Medal from the American Economic Association. The award is given every two years to the top economist under the age of 40.
