Young and the Restless actor Eric Braeden has announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing immunotherapy.
The veteran actor announced the news through a live video on social media.

‘Young and the Restless’ actor Eric Braeden has announced a cancer diagnosis

Veteran actor Eric Braeden, 82, known for his role in the soap opera ‘Young and the Restless,’ recently disclosed his cancer diagnosis in an emotional Facebook Live session.

He shared that he had been experiencing prostate issues while recovering from knee replacement surgery and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer.

“I hate to be this personal, but I think this may be good for some older guys who may or may not listen to this.”

The actor is currently undergoing a six-week immunotherapy treatment plan for high-grade cancer cells near his bladder that was discovered during a medical checkup.

“I’ve learned now to listen to my body more, and not go all out. So if you’ve seen me a little under the weather, yeah, I have been, but I will lick this. This bastard ain’t going to get me, I’m going to get it.”

Despite the diagnosis, Braeden intends to continue acting on the soap opera and has been continuing to exercise during treatment:

“I’ve learned now to listen to my body more, and not go all out. So if you’ve seen me a little under the weather, yeah, I have been, but I will lick this. This bastard ain’t going to get me, I’m going to get it. I’ll be in top form again soon. So that’s where I am right now. I love acting. I entertain people. I love your support.”

He emphasized the importance of support for those undergoing cancer treatment and noted the advancements in cancer treatment that make survival possible.

An emotional Braeden then teared up as he got to the end of his announcement:

“Whenever you have someone in the family who goes through this, support them. It can work out. Nowadays, there is so much advancement in cancer treatment, you can survive it.”

He and his wife Dale Russell have been married since 1966

Eric Braeden and Dale Russell have been married for a long time. His wife is an interior designer who was formerly an actress known for her performance in Holiday in the Sun.

The couple first met during the 1960s and started dating. After dating for some years, the couple exchanged wedding vows in October 1966 in a private wedding ceremony.

Dale has supported Eric all these years throughout her career.

Moreover, they have supported the Alzheimer’s Association and worked on increasing awareness for Parkinson’s disease research.

The couple also has a son named Christian Gudegast who was born in February 1970. He is a well-known writer and filmmaker. He also worked as a director for a music video and as a screenwriter for A Man Apart and London Has Fallen.

Furthermore, he is also the producer and director of Den of Thieves (2018).
