Aaron Carter‘s family very much wants his only child, Prince Carter, 1, to inherit his late father’s estate.

The Carter family has made it very clear that they don’t want to end up in a messy legal battle over the late artist’s property.

The I Want Candy singer’s mother Jane Carter recently told a news publication that she’s yet to meet her grandchild but wants him to receive all of his dad’s property. Mrs. Carter further revealed that the family doesn’t need the money.

The former child star’s mom also said that she would like to have a good relationship with her grandson and his mom, Aaron’s fiancee Melanie Martin.

Melanie currently has custody of the child.

On November 5, Aaron was found dead in his bathtub in the home he shared with Melanie. After his death, Jane asked her daughter Angel, who is Aaron’s twin to file a petition to serve as administrator of his estate.

The performer reportedly died without a will. His personal property and real estate portfolio are reported to be around half a million dollars. According to California succession laws, all of his assets would most likely be inherited by his son.

Martin, 30, was forced to leave the house she shared with her on/off fiance. She also made a statement about the artist’s will.

Earlier this week, she said:

“I don’t want any problems or stress over Aaron’s estate,”
“I just want Prince to be taken care of and want Aaron’s legacy to live on … whoever wants to be in Prince’s life can be in Prince’s life.”

Prince celebrated his first birthday last week without Aaron by his side

Just last week, the doting mom celebrated her son’s first birthday, just weeks after his father’s tragic death. Martin made sure Aaron’s presence was very much felt on the bittersweet occasion.

The model shared a series of throwback photos of the birthday boy with his father on her Instagram account. She captioned it:

“Happy birthday to my baby boy Prince Lyric Carter ?❤️?,”
“Today is going to be a tough one for me but I know your daddy is playing birthday songs for you up in heaven. I love you baby boy!!!??❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️????????.”

It is not a secret that Aaron had struggled with mental health problems and addiction issues for most of his life. The Aaron’s Party hitmaker also shared a turbulent relationship with his family until his death.

Last month, Martin revealed what caused the singer’s life to end so soon. She said:

“There were too many people involved [at] the end of his life. They [were] the wrong people,”
“There would be times when he would be like, ‘I can’t believe I did that,’ or ‘I don’t want to be involved with these people,’ and then he would easily get suckered in.”

Martin added:

“It was just awful. It was this back and forth, back and forth,”
“He just didn’t know how to escape his demons.”
