His full name is Ricardo Arap Bethke Galdames. Furthermore, he has two brothers, one named Beto Bethke born in Ecuador, and a sister born in Washington, United States.

Arap moved to Mexico where he spent his entire childhood and his young life with his parents. He stayed in Nairobi till he was five years old, and later moved to another country as his father worked at the United Nations.

In terms of his education, Arap joined Peterson College for his high education. After high school, he went to Universidad Iberoamericana where he earned a degree in communication.

Arap Bethke, in 1997, made his first television debut in the episode of Mi Generacion. He became well known from the Mexican telenovela Clase 406, where he portrayed the role of Chacho in 2002. Then, he made an appearance in the American comedy-drama Ugly Betty in an episode of “A Tree Grows in Guadalajara” as a cafe waiter Antonio Barreiro.
Furthermore, he featured in Madre Luna, and “Tierra de Pasiones” in 2006, as Demetrio Aguirre, also appeared as a lead character in Doña Bárbara, where he portrayed the role of “Antonio Sandoval”.
