During NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, he helped the team to its second victory in three years at the Shooting Stars Competition.

On 13 July 2009, he was traded to Denver Nuggets with some cash. After playing some years from the Nuggets, he was traded to Orlando Magic on 10 August 2012. He recorded his career-high 43 points against a match with the Philadelphia 76ers on 3 December 2013. On 26 June 2014, he was again traded back to the Nuggets in exchange for Evan Fournier. On 19 February 2015, he was traded to Portland Trail Blazers but soon became a free agent and joined New York Knicks.

On 9 July 2015, Arron Afflalo signed a one-year contract with the Knicks reuniting with his former Nuggets teammate Carmelo Anthony. After playing for a year and becoming a free agent, he signed with Sacramento Kings on 8 July 2016. Since then he has been playing from the Kings wearing a jersey number 40.
