Who is Baekhyun?

Baekhyun is a well-known singer, composer, and actor with millions of social media followers. He is a member of the South Korean-Chinese boy band Exo, as well as its subgroups Exo-K and Exo-CBX.

He was most recently seen in Exo: Cream Soda, Exo: Hear Me Out, and Exo: Let Me In in 2023. Baekhyun took over as leader of the supergroup SuperM in 2019.

Byun Baek-Hyun (Baekhyun) was born on May 6, 1992, in Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, South Korea, and is 31 years old. He is of Korean nationality and Asian ethnicity. He has not spoken about his faith in the media.

Baekhyun also has a brother named Byun Baek-beom, who is seven years his senior. However, he has not disclosed his parents’ names or occupations in the media. He began singing lessons at the age of 11 after being inspired by South Korean artist Rain.

In terms of schooling, Baekhyun went to Jungwon High School in Bucheon and was the lead vocalist of the band Honsusangtae.

An SM Entertainment agent discovered Baekhyun when he was studying for the admission examinations to the Seoul Institute of the Arts. He later joined SM Entertainment via the S.M. Casting System in 2011.

In January 2012, Baekhyun joined the South Korean-Chinese boy band ‘Exo’ as their ninth member and began performing as their main vocalist. The band quickly achieved prominence, which served as a stepping stone for Baekhyun.

By 2014, he had established himself as a frequent host of the ‘SBS’ show ‘Inkigayo,’ alongside his ‘Exo’ companion Suho. By the end of the year, he had left the show to focus on his band. In the same year, he made his musical theater debut as ‘Don Lockwood’ in the South Korean production of ‘Singin’ in the Rain,’ produced by ‘SM Culture & Contents.’

His debut solo single, ‘Beautiful,’ was published in 2015 as the soundtrack to the web-drama series ‘Exo Next Door.’ It was the first song from a web drama to reach the top of the digital charts. In the same year, Baek sang ‘Like Rain, Like Music’ at the ‘SBS’ annual music program.

In  2016, he released the duet “Dream” with Suzy from the South Korean girl band “Miss A.” He made his television debut ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,’. He founded an ‘Exo’ sub-group called ‘Exo-CBX,’ and published their debut EP, ‘Hey Mama,’ which had five tunes from various genres.

Rumors, Controversy

After it was discovered that the idol had moved into his new residence, Baekhyun was subjected to intensive scrutiny. Public records revealed that the idol was staying in the house of a guy whose daughter is on the board of Big Planet Made.

More troubling is the fact that a 13.0 billion KRW mortgage was taken out on the property through a business called One Signature. When it was revealed that One Signature was a corporation founded by Baekhyun, suspicions turned to disappointment. Some netizens criticized the star for taking out a loan on a residence he didn’t even own.

Baekhyun sought to clarify on his broadcast that the Big Planet Made CEO was a family friend. Despite his answers, Korean netizens dismissed the idol’s claims.

Many netizens chastised the star for supposedly manipulating the label conflict, despite the fact that they supported SM Entertainment.
