Bjorn Rune Borg was born on June 6, 1956, to the couple Rune and Margaretha Borg in Stockholm, Sweden. His ethnicity is Swedish.

When he was just nine years old his father gave him a tennis racket and allowed his son to be trained by the instructor Percy Roseberg.

He is among the few players who improvised their strokes in the game which made him a very unique player of his time. The start of his professional career was at 15 in 1972/73 when he represented Sweden in the 1972 Davis Cup. There he reached the quarter-finals and was ranked 18 in the very year.

Bjorn Borg won the French titles in 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, and 1982. In addition, he also won his first Wimbledon title in 1976. And the winner of the 1978 Wimbledon title ranked him the No 1 player of the very year.

Furthermore, he was able to win the Wimbledon title in 1978, 1979, and 1980 making it his fifth consecutive win and a total of 11 Grand Slam singles titles.

In 1983, Bjorn Borg announced his retirement from a professional career at the age of 26 but later in 1991 he made his comeback and finally retired completely in 1993 as he failed to maintain his records and fame.
