British gay musician Elton John’s intense passion for music! Know about his ill-health and near-miss due to appendicitis!
Elton will never stop!
British singer Elton John is aged seventy-five years now. But the singer is ever excited to perform to a live audience. He was in Portland recently and he was visiting this city after a gap of 10 years.
His 2.5 hours live performance there was to promote his album Wonderful CrazyNight. The people of Maine were super-excited. This was palpable since the show was packed with a full audience.
Elton John has music running through his blood. It is something that he cannot live with. Talking about it, his gay partner cum husband and manager David Furnish told ABC News:
“Without question, Elton must never stop performing. We all have things that kind of keep us alive in life. Some people relish the idea of a retirement where they do nothing [but] for Elton that would be purgatory. Playing to live audiences is going to be something he always needs to do.”
Elton John and David married in 2014 and have two sons aged 10 and 8. He has a passion for songwriting and singing and it is this which keeps him alive, David, 58 said.
Due to his responsibilities towards his kids and his wanting to complete his memoir and also concentrate on the film on his life, Elton might consider a pause.
David added:
“I think he feels he needs to take a breather, he needs to step back and take a pause. He’s also working on his memoirs and then we have a few surprises up our sleeve.”

Elton’s health concerns
Due to the age factor and other reasons, Elton has certain health issues. In April this year, Elton was down and hospitalized for an unusual bacterial infection. This he had acquired after he returned from South American tour. He had to reschedule his tour and also take few days’ rest in order to have a smooth recovery.
In 2013, Elton John suffered from appendicitis and an abscess. It was so bad that he later revealed that it could have killed him and that he is lucky to be alive.
He had a severe stomach ache which he initially attributed to food poisoning. He continued with it for 2 weeks and also did 9 live shows before he almost collapsed. Elton was in a delirium when he was taken to the hospital.
Elton said:
“I can barely even remember it now because you go into a sort of delirium, but I just walked off stage halfway through and was taken to hospital where they scanned my stomach and saw what the problem was,”
He realized that he was a ticking time bomb and considered this close shave with death as a wake-up call for him.
Appendicitis
Appendicitis is a swelling of the appendix, a longish outgrowth from the large intestine placed on the right side of the abdominal cavity. The organ’s exact role is not known but in some cases, it might be the subject of inflammation.
This becomes a medical emergency and needs prompt surgery to remove the diseased organ from the body. In some people with appendicitis, the pus may seep out of the organ and form a local abscess in the abdominal cavity.
If medical treatment is not sought immediately, the swollen appendix could burst and spill its unhealthy contents into the abdomen. This situation is worse and could also lead to death.
Higher and stronger antibiotics would be needed to control the situation. It causes dull pain in the right lower abdomen with nausea, fever, or vomiting. Eating foods high in fiber such as fruits and vegetables may help prevent appendicitis.
