Hartman was born to Elmer Earl Hartman who was his father who passed away in 2012. He also has a mother named Carol Davis. He has three younger brothers whose names aren’t available.

Butch started his career as an animator in an internship show in a film called Don Bluth while he was still studying at the California Institute of Arts. After that, he was hired by a company after he graduated from his college in the post of designer and storyboard artist. However, it didn’t go well and he was fired from the post as he was lacking the experience. Then he was again accepted by another animation company named Ruby-Spears where he worked in Pocahontas-like animations.

Then in 1990, he joined hands with Hanna Barbera to bring positive development in his career by post of writer, director, and storyboards artist. He animated many animations like Cow& Chicken, Dexter Laboratory, and Johnny Bravo. This made him successful but unfortunately, he signed a contract that expired which forced him to join Nickelodeon Channel where he worked with Siebert in many famous cartoon characters.

In 1997 she gave name and fame after creating the Old Fairy Parents. This series was a great success when it appeared on the screen. Because of his creative work and his work are liked by many people nickelodeons offered him to work on like Planet Sheen, Danny Phantom, and TUFF Puppy.

In 2004 he opened his own company to produce his screenplay. His final show which aired on Nickelodeon was Bunsen Is a Beast which was aired in 2018.  In the year 2018, he also announced on his Twitter and YouTube accounts that he left the nickelodeon.

Now then, he has worked on Speech Bubble, Hobbykids Adventures, and many more. He also opens a kick-started campaign which was meant for a Christian one but never revealed on pages.
