A family of four! Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have expanded their family.

The actress, 51, took to Instagram to announce the happy news that she and Benji have welcomed a new member to their family.

Cameron has given birth to a baby boy named Cardinal Madden. She mentioned that Cardinal is “really cute” but hasn’t shared any pictures of her newborn for the kids’ privacy and safety.

She wrote in an abstract drawing on Instagram,

“A little bird whispered to me. We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden. He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here! For the kids safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures, We are feeling so blessed and grateful, A little bird whispered to me.”

The couple are already a parent to four-year-old daughter Raddix. Similarly, they also kept Raddix away from the limelight of the media since her birth in December 2019.

A source confirmed to PEOPLE that Diaz and Madden felt “beyond lucky” to welcome their second child. An insider said,

“They were always hoping for a second baby because they love being parents, For years, Cameron wanted to be a mom, She gets very emotional when she talks about the long journey to motherhood. She feels beyond lucky to now have two children.”

Cameron has always been open about her motherhood journey since welcoming her first child, Raddix.

In a 2020 Instagram Live with her friend and Who What Wear CEO Katherine Power, she explained how being a mom has been the “best part” of her life.

“I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life, I’m so, so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to get to do it with Benji and we’re just having the best time. It’s so great. I’m just thrilled.”

Similarly, reflects on the struggles of welcoming a child in her 40s. Diaz shared in a March 2022 interview with BBC Radio 2’s Michelle Visage that she gave birth to her first child when she was 47.

She explained,

“The women who have children my age are like, literally 20 years younger and that’s an interesting place to be because I’m not that age. And that’s totally okay. But I want to feel vital like that for my child.”
