Casey Affleck gets emotional as his son Indiana leaves for college

Casey Affleck still cannot progress with the thought of being away from his son Indiana as he is ready to move to New York for college in August.

In an interview with Haute Living in August which was published on Monday, the actor said:

“He was raised in Los Angeles. He’s moving to New York City,”
“Despite all the traveling I’ve done between the coasts, NYC has never felt as far away as it does now,”

The actor continued:

“My son leaving is the only thing on my mind.”

The Manchester By the Sea star also explained to the magazine the full life he wants for his beloved son.

Affleck said:

“I know he will be fine,”
“It isn’t his safety or success that I worry about. His happiness is what I want. But maybe this, too, is foolish. He will be happy and sometimes unhappy. No life should be anything else.”

The doting father also noted that he wants his child to experience ”ponderosas, loving travel companions, and whales.”

The Golden Globe winner concluded:

“I know that he already values these things. I know that he will seek them out. I know that he meets the fear of the unknown and far away with a brave and curious heart.”

Casey did not attend his brother Ben Affleck’s star-studded wedding to JLo

The filmmaker had already hinted at his son’s departure in August in an Instagram post. Affleck wrote at the time:

“The water gets deep, the sea is wide, the winds can kick up. You have seen it before. And though a ship is safest in harbor, that is not what ships are made for,”
“You are ready for this,”
“You are uniquely wonderful, full of integrity, courage, and kindness. You will be an improvement to the land of ‘grownups.’

He continued:

“And if you go out into the world with curious amazement and sincere gratitude, the world will (eventually) meet you with the same,”
“Please remember that one of the best parts of any adventure … is coming home. … I love you.”

Fans showed their love and concern and left their best wishes in the comment section. One fan wrote:

Affleck also shares a son Atticus, 14, with his ex-wife Summer Phoenix. The pair ended their marriage in 2017.

Now, he is dating 24-year-old actress Caylee Cowan. During their January anniversary, the actor wrote of his girlfriend:

“We have gone through a lot of ups and downs this year, but how I feel about you has only gone in one direction,”

He added:

“I don’t know what I did to deserve you, but I am determined to figure it out and keep doing it forever. While it beats, you have a place in my heart. I hope you stay that long.”

However, the couple did not attend his brother Ben Affleck‘s Georgia wedding to Jennifer Lopez over the weekend.
