Chis Hayes was born on born February 28, 1979, in Norwood, The Bronx, New York City. His mother’s name is Geri Hayes who has Italian descent. She was a school teacher and now works for the NYC Department of Education. His father’s name is Roger Hayes and he is of Irish Catholic ancestry.

His father moved to New York from Chicago and began community organizing in the Bronx. Roger Hayes also spent several years leading community organizing at the Community Service Society of New York and now works as an assistant commissioner for the NYC Department of Health.

Hayes’ brother named Luke has worked on Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns on 2.008 and 2012.

Entering into his early career, Hayes firstly became the contributor to the independent weekly newspaper named Chicago Reader since August 2001. The newspaper covered local and national politics and was appreciated by everyone. In late 2003, he began a four-year stint at In These Times, of a magazine of Chicago.

Then after he became a senior editor. Then after 2006 through 2007, he was a Puffin Foundation Writing Fellow at The Nation Institute and a contributing writer for The Nation. On November 1, 2007, The Nation named him its Washington, D.C. editor, succeeding David Corn. Hayes then became the professor of English at St. Augustine College in Chicago. And also in a Bernard L. Schwartz fellow at New America Foundation from 2008 to 2010.

Chris then built his career towards cable news by hosting in The Rachel Maddow Show in July 2010. Likewise, Hayes has also hosted other MSNBC shows such as The Ed ShowCountdown With Keith Olbermann, and The Last Word with Lawrence O’DonnellOn November 5, 2010, MSNBC announced that Hayes would be filling in for Keith Olbermann during Olbermann’s suspension.

From Aug1, 2011, He started to host two hour morning shows. On March 14, 2013, MSNBC announced that Hayes would be hosting on a show overtaking Ed Schultz. At the age of 34, he was the youngest host of a prime-time show entirely of the country’s major cable news channels.
