Chris Pontius is a former American professional soccer player. Chris Pontius used to play for a team LA Galaxy as an attacking midfielder in Major League Soccer.

Before starting his professional career he played for Servite High School as a youth. He has also played for D.C. United from 2009-2015.

Chris Pontius began his college career at UC Santa Barbara Gaucho in 2005.

Playing three seasons there, he appeared 86 times and scored 29 goals for the side. Before signing with D.C. United, he was on the roster for Ventura County Fusion.

But Chris Pontius never played for the club. On March 22, 2009, Chris made his professional debut and scored his professional goal against LA Galaxy.

As his injury went too serious, he never appeared for the remaining season in 2010. Playing for six seasons with D.C. United he played in 152 matches netting 31 goals.

Furthermore, he switched to the Philadelphia Union on December 7, 2015. As the best comeback player of 2016, he smashed 12 goals with the club in 34 matches.

Then in Jan 2018, he joined another team LA Galaxy and stays with them till 2019. This player announced his retirement in Oct 2019.

Chris earned his first international cap on December 22, 2009, for the senior U.S. national team.

But he couldn’t make his debut at that time. It was on January 29, 2017, when he finally played his first match for the national side. He came as a substitute in a friendly game against Serbia.

However, he didn’t get selected for the 2017 Gold Cup in which Jordan Morris’s late-minute cracker helped the United States to lift the triumph.

Chris Pontius has earned many awards and honors in his career. He was included in the MLS All-Star and MLS Best XI in 2012.

As a club player, he has also lifted Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with D.C. United in 2013.
