Initially, Shane O’Neill signed with the Colorado Rapids as a Homegrown player on June 19, 2012. Shane was a homegrown player of Colorado same as Dillon Seran. As a professional player, he made his debut in September 2012 against Portland Timbers.

Shane started his professional career with a brilliant performance and was regarded as the Rapids’ Young Player of the Year award’. The first goal came on May 24, 2013. On August 7, 2015, Shane switched to Cyprus-based club Apollon Limassol. Later, in 2016 he moved to Cambridge United on a loan.

Then from 2016-to 17, Shane O’Neill was with NAC Breda, from 2017-to 18, he joined Excelsior, and from 2018-to 19, he was with the Orlando City team. After this, in Jan 2020, Shane was signed by an American Football team named Seattle Sounders FC.

Being a national player, Shane has represented the United States at the U20 and U23 levels. He can play for both Ireland and the United States. Shane made his national debut for the U20 side for the 2012 Marbella Cup in Spain. Moreover, he has also played in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

So far, Shane hasn’t appeared for the senior side. Besides this, he had received a call-up in the squad for a friendly game against Panama in February 2015.
