The Indonesian earthquake and Chrissy Teigen and family

A powerful earthquake of 7.0 magnitude hit the tourist island of Lombok near Bali in Indonesia. At least 91 people are feared dead.

There could be more casualties as the rescuers have been unable to reach the deep interiors of the island which was hard-hit.

The neighboring Bali which is 80.5 km to the east of Lombok was also shaken by the tremors. It was the second deadly earthquake to have affected Lombok in the last week.

Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend, 43 with their two children, Luna, 6, and Miles, 4 months had gone for a vacation to Bali when they were caught in the earthquake. She was shocked as well as worried about her kids and family when the land of Bali shook.

She tweeted immediately to her 10.6 million fans worldwide:

This was followed by a number of aftershocks. And Chrissy wrote:

Chrissy, 36 communicated to her followers that she and her family is safe but worried about those around. She also told the media to concentrate on helping the people directly affected by it.

She wrote:

The after-effect of the earthquake

After the earthquake, there was a blackout as all the electricity was shut. Many residents on the island and in Bali were forced to come out of their houses. There were parts of many buildings which had collapsed.

The couple also had earlier posted pictures of Chrissy and John cuddled with Miles. In one, Chrissy was seen breastfeeding Miles and in another picture, John was reclining on a couch with his two children.

There was a picture of the cute little Luna and Chrissy had captioned it”

Chrissy and John had also attended a cooking class in Bali. There was also a photo of John planting a kiss on Chrissy’s cheek.

John had not forgotten even when on a vacation to wish former President of the USA Barack Obama a happy birthday on his 57th birthday.

He wrote:

“Happy #ObamaDay. We in Indonesia toasting our President.”

It may be recalled that Barack Obama had lived in Indonesia for a few years of his life.
