Claire “Clurby” Bridges, an aspiring model from Florida had both of her legs amputated after restricted blood flow had caused damage to her legs.
On January 16, the 21 years old model was admitted to a hospital in Tampa General Hospital with serve leg pain and COVID. Claire was born with a serious heart condition that led to major complications when she caught coronavirus though she was fully vaccinated.
According to her family, she was then diagnosed with Covid Myocarditis, Rhabdomyolysis, mild pneumonia, Cyanotic, and had Acidosis. Her heart stopped at one point and eventually forced doctors to amputate both her legs.
The campaign, a GoFundMe created for Bridges on Jan. 26 where they shared that Bridges “was born with a serious heart condition and after contracting COVID, she was quickly in the ICU on life support.”
They added, due to “complications and life-threatening infection,” she had to have both legs amputated.
In a GoFundMe post, the family said,
“Claire also faces a long and challenging recovery, and our hope is to give her the best resources possible for her ongoing healthcare needs.”

Due to the help of the GOFundMe page, the family had raised around $39,000 to cover her medical and recovery expenses.
Similarly, another page which was set up by her housemate and colleague at the coffee house where she worked had raised almost $105,000.
Health Update
On the occasion of her 21st birthday, Claire returned home from the hospital after having successful surgery on 17 March.
She also shared a series of photos on her respective IG handle that shows Bridges enjoying her birthday with her loved ones.
She captioned the posts,
“21st spent right! Grateful for all the love and wishes,”
Prior to that, she had been documenting her journey on social media platforms. Just days before she was released from the hospital, she posted a photo of herself with her caregivers and captioned the post,
“I sat up by myself today!! So stoked,”
Her father, Wayne Bridges told Newsweek,
“She is very happy to be home around family and friends. We had a cookout for her on Saturday, which was her birthday. We’re happy to get her out of the hospital life and in her mom’s house and more comfortable surroundings.”

Presently, Bridges is preparing to receive prosthetic legs and physical therapy and occupational therapy to learn how to use them in everyday life.
“I’m doing good I have occupational therapy, physical therapy and at home nursing now multiple times a week and I’m getting up and moving a lot more. Also get my stitches out of my nubs next week,” days ago she shared an update with her followers.
