Cody Rhodes is a married man. He is married to Brandi Reed. His wife is a professional wrestler, and television personality. She is the Chief Brand Officer of All Elite Wrestling and previously competed in Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and World Wonder Ring Stardom. The couple exchanged wedding vows on 12 September 2013. His father Dusty Rhodes was a legendary wrestler known as The American Dream. He is only one of the seven men inducted into each of the WWE, WCW, Professional Wrestling, and Wrestling Observer Newsletter Halls of Fame. He died in 2015 at age 69.

Rhodes changed his name to Cody Rhodes by the age of 17. He has one half-brother named Dustin Rhodes who is also known as Goldust. He is a wrestler currently signed to All Elite Wrestling and is a coach and a wrestler well-known for his multiple tenures with WWE from 1995 to 2019 as the flamboyant, enigmatic, and sexually ambiguous character, ‘Goldust’. Talking about his educational background, he attended Lassiter High School where he had a successful high school wrestling career.

He placed sixth in his sophomore year and won the Georgia state tournament in his junior year. He followed his success in his junior year into the senior year by being the champion again.

Cody Rhodes made his TV debut on the July 2, 2007, episode of Raw in a backstage segment with Dusty Rhodes and Randy Orton. Rhodes lost his debut match against Randy Orton.

On November 19 Raw, Rhodes faced Hardcore Holly for the fourth time and beat him. They turned their rivalry into partnership and on the Raw 15th Anniversary special episode that aired on December 10, 2007, defeated Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for the World Tag Team Championship. They lost the title on the October 27 Raw to Kofi Kingston and CM Punk.

In the 2010 WWE supplemental draft, Rhodes was drafted to SmackDown. He made his debut for Smackdown on April 30, 2016, by defeating John Morrison.

At the August 9 tapings of the August 12 SmackDown, he defeated Ezekiel Jackson to win the Intercontinental Championship. In the 2012 Royal Rumble match, he lasted more than 40 minutes and eliminated more wrestlers than any other competitor with six, before being eliminated by The Big Show.

Later, he formed a partnership with his real-life half-brother, Goldust. This union started by having to fight for their jobs and defeated The Shield (Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins) at Battleground in 2013. The duo won the WWE Tag Team Titles two times before dissolving.

On May 21, 2016, Rhodes revealed on Twitter that he had requested his release from WWE with an official grant from the WWE coming the following day.

After WWE

After leaving WWE, he performed in the Independent circuit(2016 to 2019), Ring of Honor (2016–2018), Total Nonstop Action Wrestling/Impact Wrestling (2016–2017), and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (2016–2019) before working with All Elite Wrestling.

On January 1, 2019, he unveiled a new promotion, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), in which he, along with The Young Bucks’ Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega would work as Executive Vice Presidents and wrestlers. At their inaugural pay-per-view event, he defeated his real-life half-brother Dustin Runnels.

In May 2020, Cody defeated Lance Archer to crown himself the first-ever TNT Champion at AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

Cody Rhodes recently made a controversial tweet that he later deleted. In the post, Cody stated that the lockdown should end in the world. The post read,

“The world needs to open back up and end this mass hysteria. We are not a socialist nation. We are a republic. If we go on any longer with this bulls–t, our economy will be shot and that much harder to kick start. #EndTheShutdown. I mean, no doubt we have an epidemic on our hands, and have sustained losses which is sad, but we have to move on with our lives. Take precautions is fine, but end the shutdown please. I CARE ABOUT HUMAN LIFE, GUYS. Jeeze, take precautions, don’t go out if you have a comprised immune system. Wear your masks and social distance. Still open up.”

The tweet was controversial for obvious reasons as the pandemic is increasing day by day and people are dying every day because of the virus especially in the United States. After facing backlash, he deleted the tweet.
