Colin Firth and Livia Giuggiol have been married for nearly 22 years now. But their married life was in trouble. They tried to make it work but in vain. Hence they are now going in for divorce.

The couple, Colin Firth and Livia Giuggiol were in a married relationship for nearly 22 years before they called it quits. The pair have filed for divorce. On 13 December 2019, their reps issued a joint statement that read:

“Colin and Livia Firth have separated,”
“They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children. They kindly ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

The couple’s relationship timeline

Colin, 59, and Livia, 50 met and dated in the 1990s. Subsequently, they wed in 1997. They have two children together – sons Luca, 18, and Matteo, 16.

Colin has another child named Will, 29 whose mother is Colin’s ex-girlfriend Meg Tilly. The two were in a relationship from 1989 to 1994.

The pair later quietly separated and Livia began an affair with her friend, Marco Brancaccia. Later, she reconciled with Colin and Marco and began a campaign of harassment against the couple. They sought police help and things went public in March 2018.

Providing more details about their relationship, the joint statement said:

“A few years ago, Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr. Brancaccia,”
“The Firths have since reunited. Subsequently, Mr. Brancaccia carried out a frightening campaign of harassment over several months, much of which is documented.”

The statement added:

“As a consequence of his stalking, threats and refusal to desist, the legal complaint was lodged with Italian authorities. The reporting this week on this case is understood to be the consequence of a leaked court document. This is greatly to be regretted. It does not serve the interests of any of the parties involved.”

Marco denied the allegations of harassment and stalking. He admitted to having an affair with Live an in 2015-2016. He added:

“I wrote an email to Colin about my relationship with Livia, which I now regret sending, and she filed a complaint against me for stalking out of fear that I could go public with what she had revealed to me about her marriage and work,”
“In a year, she sent me hundreds of messages of love, photos and videos, even a diary.”

Marco said that she persuaded him to keep quiet about their relationship. Later, the whole matter was settled out of court.
