For more than two decades, the film is the very first big feature film to center on an Asian American family. The actress has kept her opinion in the context of historical importance as well.
The talented star, Constance Wu talks about her character in the film. She says:
“She’s a middle-class American girl who, at the start of the movie, is pretty comfortable and self-assured. But when she gets thrown into the Singaporean elite crowd, her self-assurance is thrown for a loop. She has never dealt at this level of wealth and class, and it’s a different country and culture system.”
Constance Wu says that the movie not only breaks some stereotypes but the story is centered on an Asian-American experience. The characters in the project will also have other qualities and they will be fully fleshed out.

“I hope Asian American kids watch CRA and realize that they can be the heroes of their own stories. I know CRA won’t represent every Asian American. So for those who don’t feel seen, I hope there is a story you find soon that does represent you. I am rooting for you.”
The main importance of diversity is in terms of hiring says the actress. The reason is that one wants to have different viewpoints to make the company or the work stronger.

Constance Wu shared her experience working on Crazy Rich Asians after getting experience in Fresh Off the Boat. She said that the experience was different. However, she also described the similarity.
The similarity was that Wu was on the first network TV show in over twenty years to feature an Asian-American cast and now she was leading the first studio movie in over 25 years to ever have an Asian-American cast.
