Dakota Johnson praises Taylor Swift at SNL
Dakota Johnson loves Taylor Swift!
The actress called the pop star the “most powerful person in America” while making a dig at Donald Trump during her Saturday Night Live monologue.
The two-time SNL host was accompanied by musical guest Justin Timberlake for the live taping of the show. There she also reflected on her first time hosting the NBC comedy staple.
As a picture from the 2015 special was shown on screen, Johnson said,
“The last time I hosted was right after the ‘SNL’ 40th [anniversary]. I was actually in the audience for that special,”
“Look at this collection of people: Sarah Palin, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg,”
The Fifty Shades of Grey star added as the former president’s face appeared,
“And look who’s sitting right behind me,”
The camera then shifted to Taylor Swift who was also in the audience at that time. Johnson, 34, said,
“Crazy to be standing so close to someone who would become the most powerful person in America,”
Taylor is not a stranger to the halls of SNL at 30 Rock.
Most recently, she and her beau Travis Kelce were there to support rapper Ice Spice.
An eyewitness said at the time,
”They were very touchy-feely [backstage]. They were very cute and supportive of each other,”
How did netizens react to Johnson’s comment about Swift?
Johnson also had a reunion with Timberlake, 42, during the fun hosting night, more than a decade after they starred in The Social Network together.
The How To Be Single star and Timberlake appeared together in a scene from the 2010 flick about the rise of Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, which Johnson acknowledged during her monologue.
Dakota asked the Mirrors singer as she appeared onstage upon hearing his name, “What are you doing up here, are you lost?”
Fans gave mixed reviews on Johnson’s comment on Taylor, with one writing,
”Beyond ridiculous. She has cultural cache, but no actual power.”
Another wrote,
”There is a Dakota out there searching for some intelligence for sale… she lost her’s somewhere.”
Another wrote in Swift’s defense,
”I respect her success, even if her music isn’t for me. The music industry is brutal. She won. And she can do comedic stuff”
