Meet David Corenswet, the new Superman

After Henry Cavill announced he would no longer be Superman in Superman: Legacy, it was announced that a young actor named David Corenswet would be doing the role.

Henry’s departure came after he left DC Studios in December 2022 after things between new bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran went wrong.

Corenswet will portray a younger version of the man of steel but has never done a leading role before.

Who is David and what does his family do?

Corenswet was born on July 2, 1993, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As of 2023, his age is 30.

His father and mother are lawyers and he has a sister named Amy.

His dad used to be a stage actor in New York City for many years before switching up his profession.

David graduated from the Shipley School in drama in 2016. But his acting career started during his younger days as he participated in multiple theatre productions before qualifying in his 20s.

What movies has David Corenswet done?

During his younger days, David Corenswet did many stage shows like the productions of Macbeth, La Vie En Bleu, and All My Sons.

Before turning 20, he wrote and performed in the 2011 short movie Following Chase.

Some might notice him in TV series like Cards and Elementary as a one-off star which he starred in after graduation.

He also had an important role in Netflix’s 2019 show The Politician as River Barkley. He starred alongside Ben Platt and Gwyneth Paltrow.

His most recent project was the 2022 rom-com Look Both Ways and Jake. The same year he played the projectionist in the American slasher Pearl.

Apart from the Superman movie, David is also due to appear in Apple TV’s Lady In The Lake series with Natalie Portman and will be seen alongside Daisy Edgar Jones in 2024’s movie Twisters.

Henry Cavill was fixed to make cameos as Superman in Black Adam and The Flash. He even teased her appearance in the former film in October 2022.

However, within two months, he was dropped by DC Studios’ new bosses Gunn and Safran.

It happened as a result of promises of the former bosses that the new ones did not plan to follow through on.
