Dwayne Johnson talks about his depression and agony of watching his mother’s attempted suicide!

Dwayne Johnson, 45 is America’s highest-paid actor. His new film Rampage would hit the UK cinemas this month. But Dwayne has revealed that he has battled with depression and agonized when his mother attempted suicide when he was small in front of his eyes.

His mother’s suicide attempt

Dwayne was a mere 15 years old when his mother Ata tried to kill herself in front of little Dwayne. This was months after they were evicted from their apartment.

Dwayne said:

“She got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic,”

He continued:

“I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road.”

Dwayne added:

“What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is that to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t.”

The end of his football career and more…

Dwayne had aspired to be a professional football player when he grows up. He was working towards this ambition of his life. But soon his dreams were shattered due to his multiple injuries due to which he could not play. He had joined the Canadian Football League but had to leave within a year.

At around the same time, his girlfriend separated from him. Dwayne recalls:

“That was my absolute worst time,”

But luck would have it, this 6 feet 5 inches tall able-bodied Dwayne took to wrestling and fared extremely well in this field.

In 2000, he began acting. He said that it was his inner strength that he used to push him forward otherwise he too would have turned suicidal like his mother.

Dwayne’s advice

Dwayne had these words to say about his mother and him. He said:

“We both healed but we’ve always got to do our best to pay attention when other people are in pain, We have to help them through it and remind them they are not alone.”

When a fan had recently written to him about the depression that the fan was suffering from, Dwayne said:

“I hear you. I’ve battled that beast more than once.”

Dwayne and his acting career

Dwayne is now an established actor. He had success in this field and soon was one of the best-paid actors. He and his ex-wife and her brother got together and created the film studio called Seven Bucks Production.

This studio has produced all of its films since 2016. There were two new companies added-Seven Bucks Digital Studios and Seven Bucks Creative. The origin of this name comes from the fact that Dwayne had just 7 bucks left when he quit CFL.

Even when he was wrestling, Dwayne started acting on TV in 1999. He was seen a year later in Star Trek: Voyager. Blockbuster action movies came and Dwayne was cast in them. He ah also done some comedy and supporting roles. Similarly, he was the primary antagonist in the 2006’s film Doom. He was cast in The Game Plan in 2007.

He did several other prominent roles and also earned many prestigious awards for his brilliant acting.
