Rosalynn Carter is no longer alive among us! Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter passed away on Sunday, November 19 at 2:10 p.m. at her home in Plains, Georgia.

She has died at the age of 96. Her family was by her side at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband Jimmy Carter, three children Jack, Chip, and Amy, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Former President Jimmy Carter, who is now 99 years old, paid a heartfelt tribute to his beloved wife on her remembrance. He wrote,

“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished, She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

Rosalynn was married to Jimmy for nearly 77 years until her death.

She had been on her husband’s side throughout decade including being the closest adviser during Carter’s one term as U.S. president and their four decades thereafter as global humanitarians.

Similarly, son Chip Carter mourns the death of his beloved mother with a heartwarming statement.

“Besides being a loving mother and extraordinary First Lady, my mother was a great humanitarian in her own right, “Her life of service and compassion was an example for all Americans. She will be sorely missed not only by our family but by the many people who have better mental health care and access to resources for caregiving today.”

What was Rosalynn Carter’s cause of death?

Rosalynn’s precise death cause hasn’t yet been revealed.

However, the Carter Center released a statement on Friday, November 17, on behalf of the Carters’ grandson, Jason Carter that the former first had entered home hospice care.

The statement continued,

“She and President Carter are spending time with each other and their family. The Carter family continues to ask for privacy and remains grateful for the outpouring of love and support,”

Similarly, the Center revealed in May that Mrs. Carter had been diagnosed with dementia. Further, there is not much detail available on her health condition.

Former President Carter also has been receiving hospice care at his home in Georgia following a series of hospital stays.

In February, a statement from The Carter Center issued that reads,

“After a series of short hospital stays, former US President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention. He has the full support of his family and his medical team,”
