Heather Rae Young is accused of favoring her son Tristan over her stepchildren

In a recent interview with Today.com, Heather Rae Young opened up about the backlash she has experienced since welcoming her son, Tristan, with her husband Tarek El Moussa.

On January 31, 2023, the Selling Sunset star gave birth to her first child a baby boy twelve months after their marriage.

Besides, she is also a step-mom to two children Taylor, 12, and Brayden, 7, from her husband’s previous marriage whom he shared with his ex-wife Christina Haack.

Following the arrival of Tristan, Rae Young has been flooded with sarcastic comments that she is not taking care of her stepchildren like she used to do before.

The new mom addressed she has been questioning the whereabouts of her husband and his two kids when she shares a picture of Tristan on social media.

Regardless, she gracefully gave an update about her stepchildren while noting that Tarek and Hall have a 50/50 custody agreement. She told the outlet,

“Taylor and Brayden are in school all day, and I’m home with Tristan. I can capture moments with Tristan easily,”

She further added,

“They’re also busy with sports and tutoring— they always have something going on. I blink and it’s 8 o’clock at night. So when we’re all together, the last thing I’m doing is standing around taking photos with all three kids.”

Besides, she acknowledge that her stepdaughter, Taylor also suggested what images of herself are shared on social media. Heather explained,

“She’s a teenager now and she’ll be like, ‘I don’t love my hair in that picture,’ ‘Please don’t post that one,’”

Last month, she also faced criticism for taking her newborn son in a private jet.

How is Heather Rae Young’s relationship with her stepchildren?

Well, Heather shared a close bond with her two stepchildren, Taylor and Brayden, since the beginning when Tarek introduced her to them.

She often can be seen showcasing her love to the children on social media platforms as well. Months prior, Young shared an Instagram post discussing her bond with these children, writing,

“I met Tay when she was a little girl and the second I met her, I knew my life was going to change. She melted my heart. She opened her heart to me day one of meeting her. There was never an ‘awkward’ phase for us,”
“Not everyone can understand the close relationship I have with the kids & that’s fine, all that matters is how we feel. The kids made me want to have kids, I love my role as their bonus mom.”

Alike, she previously disclose how her stepchildren made her desire to have her own biological child. In a May 2023 interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, she shared,

“I have two beautiful stepkids, and they’re incredible, and they made me want to have babies,”
