Ian Royce and his untimely death
Ian Royce was the warm-up stand-up comedian for shows such as BGT and X-Factor. He died due to pneumonia and overwhelming sepsis, his family confirmed via his official Twitter handle.
They wrote:
“It is with our greatest regret that we have to tell you all that Ian has passed away today from severe pneumonia and multiple organ failure. He was in no pain and was surrounded by friends and family. He put up a good fight but is in a better place now,”
This tweet was shared on Tuesday 1 September 2020. His fans and friends were surprised to learn of the comedian’s sudden demise. They rushed to put in their tributes and comments to the post.
The fans and friends react
Ian Royce had many fans and friends who took to the comments section of the tweet to pay tributes to the departed soul. English presenters Ant and Dec were amongst the first few who wrote condolences for the star’s death.
They tweeted that Ian was a legendary comedian and a good person. They also said that he would always be remembered.
Singer Myleene Klass wrote that Ian was an extremely kind human being. She added that he was loving and supportive of her and her daughters. Her tweet read:
“I will raise a glass tonight to this extraordinarily talented, kindhearted, loyal man,”
John Lush wrote:
“So sorry to hear this.”
He followed this with a tearful face emoji. And Stan Egerton commented:
“So sorry to hear this, no suffering.”
His daughter, Roxanne had responded to all the love poured on the Twitter handle:

Ian and his addiction struggles
The comedian had a drinking problem. In 2019, he admitted to his struggles with alcoholism. His friends had created a GoFundMe page for him to raise enough money to enter a rehab facility called The Priory.
Last October, he had confirmed:
“To rehab I do go. Thank you so much to everyone for your help…”Pucker up @PrioryGroup I’m on my way.”
He had a 28-day program there. Ian also suffered from depression and had tweeted about it. In his last tweet, he was in high spirits after he was going to step in for the injured judge Simon Cowell.
He had tweeted:
“Get well soon @SimonCowell and go @AshleyBanjo… Dance off?? “
Just two weeks before he died, Ian had tweeted to his 68.8k followers:
“Sometimes, I look back on my life and I am seriously impressed that I am still alive.”
