Jada Pinkett Smith is setting the record straight that she did not cheat on her estranged husband, Will Smith despite being separated for the past seven years.

While promoting her new memoir, Worthy, on Talkshoplive, on Saturday, the Girls Trip actress, 52, said,

“I just need people to know, OK, I did not cheat on Will Smith. No matter how sad he looked at that table,”
“And when you read this book, you will kind of get an understanding of why the ‘Red Table’ even happened in the first place.”

She continued,

“I’m in a place of peace. I’m in a place of happiness. And in all honesty, I love where I am,”
“As far as Will, my relationship with him, you know, we went through that long period of separation… in order for us to journey separately and do some journeying together.”

The Nutty professor actress concluded,

“And it just seems as though we’ve come to a really, really beautiful place together. So I just, I’m happy. Yeah, that’s where I am. In this chapter of my life, I am finally happy.”

Pinkett’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, 69, also explained that the couple tried saving their marriage due to public perception.

Banfield-Norris said,

“People had this vision in their mind and this idea in their minds, of who you were, as a couple, the family and all of that, and you guys just tried to live up to it,”

Jada added,

“Well, we thought that’s what we were supposed to do until we got mature and got our asses in some therapy, and realized, you know, that that’s just not a realistic thing to do,”
“There’s so much love, you know, between us.”

Jada Pinkett claims she and Will tried to save their marriage

Many accused Jada of cheating on her husband after an entanglement with rapper August Alsina made headlines.

Jada and Will later appeared on the former’s now-canceled Red Table Talk show to discuss what really happened between them in July 2020.

Pinkett Smith said at the time,

“Somebody made a statement for me that wasn’t a statement I made, that went cray-cray,”
“I would usually not … you know, that would be something that I wouldn’t comment on at all. It’s a situation I considered private.”

The Pursuit of Happyness actor, 55, noted, “You just feel like it’s nobody’s business.”

The couple noted that the two decided to go separate ways because of the fact that “people’s feelings are involved” and “there’s a healing that needs to happen.”

Last week, Jada confirmed that Will and she have been living separately for seven years.

During an exclusive chat with Hoda Kotb on October 13, the actress confessed,

“I think by the time we got to 2016 we were just exhausted with trying,”
“I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”

The mother of two continued,

“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever,”
“And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”

She also told People that she and the Oscar-winning actor have been ”doing some really heavy-duty work together.”

Noting that the couple is still figuring out their future, Jada said,

“We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us,”
