Jeremy explained the heartbreaking experience of the accident
The start of 2023 happened to be a stroke of bad luck for the Marvel hero. On New Year’s Day, he was airlifted to a nearby hospital after a 14,330-pound PistenBully ran over him near his Reno, Nevada home.
While many thought the actor would not survive the accident, his rep at the time confirmed that he suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” that required multiple surgeries and revealed that he was in “critical but stable condition.”
Renner also updated fans about his health condition on Instagram, thanking everyone for their love and support.
Last week, the Wind River star sat down with Diane Sawyer for his first-ever interview after the tragic accident.
The actor proudly confessed that he would do it all again if it was to save the life of his nephew Alex Fries.
The actor remembered the moment right after the brutal accident and said,
“[I felt] all of [the pain],”
“I was awake through every moment.”
He added of the experience,
“It felt like someone took the wind out of you,”
“Too many things are going on in the body to feel pain. It’s everything. It’s like if your soul could have pain.”
Due to the extremity of the pain, the actor felt he was dying at the moment but he told his interviewer that he “chose to survive.”
Renner continued,
“I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.”
