It was September 2013 when John popped the question to Couric after being in a relationship with her for two years. People Magazine reports that the proposal was at sunset on the beach in East Hampton, New York.
“He said that there was a reason he’d brought me there to the beach and that he loved me and was committed to me, and I said, ‘Yeah, I know that, you didn’t have to bring me here to tell me that,’”
Couric told People Magazine. Finally, he said,
“‘Couric, I’m trying to propose to you,’ and I was stunned.”
Couric didn’t say yes immediately.
“It took a long time for my brain to process what was going on,” she told People.
Later, Couric confirmed the news on Twitter.
“Yes, it’s true! So touched by all the kind Tweets & warm wishes-thank you,”
she wrote.
It is Katie’s second marriage to John. She has two daughters named Ellie and Carrie.
Their marriage was attended by only close family members and friends at their home. Katie told People:
“We wanted to keep the wedding just very low-key,”
The bride was wearing an ivory crystal beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace rather gown which was designed by Carmen Marc Valvo.
John and Katie went to Barbados for their honeymoon. John and Katie were sighted in the ocean swimming and stealing a few kisses.
