This is the first time in pageant history that a transgender woman has won the title of Miss Nevada USA. In February, a federal judge upheld the right of another organization Nevada-based Miss United States of America.
The court also allowed the Miss United States of America pageant to exclude transgender women.
On Sunday won the crown of Miss Nevada USA at the South Point hotel-casino in Las Vegas. Moreover, she will now compete for the Miss USA title in November.
Kataluna Enriquez became Miss Nevada, USA
This Sunday became a great historical movement for the LGBTQ+ community and everyone else. She beat 21 other contestants to win the crown of Miss Nevada. Meanwhile, this is the first time in pageant history that a transgender woman has won the crown.
The 27-year-old crown winner will now compete for Miss UA this November. Miss Nevada shared a photo of Kataluna in a rainbow dress with her crown with the caption which says:

After the victory, she celebrated her accomplishment by sharing a post on Instagram with the caption and several rainbow hearts which said:
“Huge thank you to everyone who supported me from day one. My community, you are always in my heart. My win is our win. We just made history. Happy pride,”
Enriquez shared her struggle
It was not always an easy path for her in her early life. On today’s date, she is the owner of KatalunaKouture, an admin of healthcare, and a fashion designer. The short bio of her in Miss Silver State USA reads she fought multiple challenges in her life. From a young age, she fought several challenges. Moreover, she uses her life experiences and shares them on her platform #BEVISIBLE. It is a campaign to combat hate through vulnerability.
The article also says she is a survivor of physical and sexual abuse and a proud transgender woman of color. Miss Nevada USA has an aim to break barriers and represent those who don’t get the proper representation She is also continuing to support numerous non-profit organizations and LGBTQ+ youth.
She won the Miss Silver State USA pageant in March. It is a preliminary competition for the Miss Nevada USA pageant. The Miss Universe allowed transgender to participate in beauty pageants in 2012. She will be the second transwoman to compete in the pageant since Spain’s Angela Ponce in 2018.
